The Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code requires permits for all new construction, additions, alterations/remodeling, demolition, change of uses, and work not specifically exempted by the code. The Warren County Erosion & Sediment Control Ordinance also requires an approved Erosion and Sediment Control Plan and a Land Disturbing Permit for all land disturbing activities over 10,000 square feet. An Agreement in Lieu of a Land Disturbing Permit may be submitted for a single site development of a new single family dwelling.
Normal repairs and maintenance work such as: painting, dry wall repair, minor roof repair, replacing cabinets or fixtures is not required to have a permit. Please see the link below for Frequently Asked Questions or call our office at 540-636-9973 for any questions on required permits.
Permit applications may be submitted to this office in person or by mail.
