Department Description:
The Public Works Department is responsible for oversight of solid waste, streets & highways (signs), and our expanding operations in several sanitary districts. The Department is also responsible for maintaining all of the County's facilities (buildings and grounds) with the goal of keeping them neat, attractive, safe and hazard free while providing a comfortable work environment for employees and an effective place for citizens to conduct County business. The Department's other responsibilities include the general maintenance and janitorial services needed to ensure the proper upkeep of the County's facilities.
Department Responsibilities:
The Public Works Department is responsible for the oversight of daily operations and administration of the following:
- Solid Waste Collection
- Buildings and Grounds Maintenance
- Closed Landfill Activities
- E911 Signage Program
- Sanitary District Program
- Maintenance of Roads
- Snow and Ice Removal
- Emergency Repairs due to Storm Damages
- Budgeting
- Human Resource Management
