Front Royal/Warren County Anti-Litter Council
The Front Royal/Warren County Anti-Litter Council is dedicated to educating, motivating, and participating in the prevention of litter. Through our efforts, we aim to assist the citizens of Front Royal and Warren County in becoming better stewards of our environment.
Our council meets at 4:00 PM on the 4th Thursday of every month at the Warren County Government Center's Planning Department (220 North Commerce Avenue, Suite 400, Front Royal, Virginia). If you're interested in joining us or learning more about what we do, contact Matt Wendling or Chase Lenz at the Warren County Planning Department at (540) 636-3354. You can also follow us on Facebook for updates and information about upcoming events.
By getting involved, you can help maintain the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley, improve property values in your neighborhood, contribute to cleaner roadsides and waterways, and meet others who share your passion for anti-litter initiatives. Your participation also helps promote anti-litter education in our community.
We host regular weekday clean-up events to address local litter problem areas. These events are scheduled during our monthly meetings. To support these efforts, we provide cargo nets to Town and County residents at no cost to assist them in meeting Warren County Code §102-2, which requires vehicles transporting garbage or trash to be covered.
The Town of Front Royal Public Works Department oversees the Town’s Adopt-A-Street Program. If you or your organization would like to learn more about this program, please contact the Public Works Department at (540) 635-7819, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, or email Karen Williams.
The ALC loans out supplies such as bags, gloves, grabbers, safety vests, and signage to local organizations or citizens who want to organize their own clean-up events as well. We offer educational materials for school-age children and hold an annual awards program to recognize community service organizations and classroom projects that contribute to our mission.
In addition, we approve grant funding for new trash bins, recycle bins, and dog waste receptacles in our local parks to keep them litter-free. Members of our organization are available to give talks and presentations on recycling and litter control in the Town and County.
