Royal Shenandoah Greenway
The three phases of the Eastham Park Trail serve as key segments in the larger Royal Shenandoah Greenway (RSG). The Greenway concept was developed by the Front Royal-Warren County Tree Stewards with the assistance of Virginia Tech’s Community Design Assistance Center. RSG will be approximately four miles in length and will connect downtown Front Royal, the Front Royal-Warren County Visitor’s Center, Happy Creek Arboretum, the new Samuel’s Public Library, multiple public parks and playing fields, the Warren County Dog Park, three public school facilities, Shenandoah National Park, a public boat landing, interpretive sites, and an outdoor classroom. Eventually the Greenway will be connected with the 240 acre land conservancy which lies to the north of the Luray Avenue boat landing and extends along the South Fork of the Shenandoah River. This land conservancy is currently an EPA Superfund site and is the home to the former Avtex Fibers manufacturing facility.
